Hay Madrigals return to the Great Hall in period costume, to entertain castle visitors with an informal performance of Elizabethan song, duets, and - yes, Madrigals!
Included in the program is an anonymous song written (supposedly) from the point of view of Anne Boleyn as she awaited execution in the tower.
Shakespearean song, duets and madrigals by various composers of the era will feature, all accompanied by a viola da gamba and a beautiful Spinet, crafted especially for Hay Madrigals.
Listeners or passers-by are warmly encouraged to chat with the musicians in-between sets.
Please note this performance is a free event and is to be enjoyed standing - donations to Hay Castle welcome.
